Craigie Baptist Church commenced as a church in 1977, supported by the North Beach Baptist Church. From small beginnings it grew in the 1980's along with the young community it was part of. Towards the end of the 1980's the area began to change as newer suburbs to the North opened up and Craigie gradually became an older suburb with the emphasis on rental properties. This affected the make up of the church community with an older congregation and a slow down in the youth work. From the late 1990's the area has begun to change once again with Craigie being seen as an affordable suburb which is fairly close to the good beaches, and adjacent to an excellent freeway and rail system that puts the city less than twenty minutes away. It is also just walking distance from one of the States major shopping centres and close to the growing centre that is Joondalup City with Edith Cowan University.
Once again the church has been affected by these changes as we have seen steady growth in all areas. Although the Youth and Children's ministries are still fairly small, the church has enthusiastic leaders who see the potential for growth that is ahead of us. The ministry to seniors has developed by leaps and bounds and now provides opportunities for ministry, outreach, and fellowship for many "over 55's" in this area.
It is now ten years since Craigie Baptist Church completed extensions to its building and upgrading to its facilities, and while the celebrations are a focus on this milestone, our main aim is to give thanks and praise to God for His blessings on His church in this district, and to let our community know that:
